Virtual Sites

What’s not in Your Virtual Business Website That Clients are not Attracted to Do Business With You
If you are a Virtual Assistant with a website endorsing your business and it is not helping in increasing your clients, what should you do? Take actions! There are many reasons why your website is not delivering clients to your business. One could be your headline in you webpage. For example, the home page of your website doesn’t have the headline or it might be a poor one.
Put the headline at the top of your webpage so that it will stand out and will read first. Put a benefit to your potential clients and readers in that headline. The first thing I want to see when I visit your website is a huge headline that says..
“I can give you back the time you have spent to strategically develop your business. Allow me to take over these duties for you”
“Database entry and answering customer emails. Payments of bill. BORING! I know a person who will do that mundane duty for you.”
“Can I help you make your business doubled for the price of a meal?”
“Know how to spend more quality time with your family by hiring a Virtual Assistant.”
“Develop your business much faster and increase profit more rapidly. Outsourcing your tasks to a Virtual Assistant”
Those are just some improvised examples I did to illustrate the point here. I am not a qualified copywriter. You can ask other sources for copywriting tips that will tell you how to make a great headline. I’m just saying this to you have a headline on your VA business website. It is a great marketing!
Help me solve my problems by your headline. Tell me what the things you can do for me. Say that to first before telling me who you are. My concern is what you can do for me. Give that to me in a big headline on your business sales page and I’ll guarantee you that I will stick around to read what’s under your headline. Say something useful to me under your headline and I promise to go read the first paragraph of copy that will appear on your website. Keep hooking me up with benefits and I will go on to read something about your specific services and then I will contact you for a more specific interview.
If you don’t do that, I’ll be gone within a few seconds of opening your site.
Be sure to make your headlines more relevant and specific, be creative. Be clear, make them visible. It should be client centered.
Your website is a tool for your business. Use it wisely.

American Places: Encounters with History $0.99 For anyone interested in history, the physical traces of the past, especially historical places, hold a special fascination. Whether it is a battlefield or the home of a notable American, there is no question that we understand the past in a different and more immediate way when we encounter it "on the ground." In American Places, more than two dozen of America’s most gifted historians write about their own encounters with historic places, bringing a personal viewpoint to bear on a wide variety of sites, ranging from Monticello to Fenway Park. Here James M. McPherson writes about the battlefield of Gettysburg, and how walking the ground of Pickett’s Charge inspired one of his books. Kevin Starr visits the Musso & Frank Grill in Hollywood and finds many of the flavors of California history there. Joel Williamson takes a bemused tour of Elvis Presley’s Graceland, and David Kennedy tells the story of the "Pig War" of San Juan Island, where a spat between Britain and America over a speck of land in the Pacific helped determine the shape of the U.S. and Canada. William Freehling compares two places, Charleston’s Battery and New Orleans’ Jackson Square, showing how each reveals the different spirit of the society that created it. And Edward Ayers talks about spending time in Cyberspace, U.S.A., a virtual place that has much in common with the America visited by Alexis de Tocqueville a century and a half ago. Other pieces include Robert Dallek on the FDR Memorial, David Hackett Fischer on the Boston Common, and William Leuchtenburg on his native borough of Queens. American Places celebrates the career of Sheldon Meyer, who over his years at Oxford University Press has published some of our most distinguished historians, including many Pulitzer Prize and Bancroft Prize winners, virtually all of whom have contributed to this volume. |

Changing Spaces of Education: New Perspectives on the Nature of Learning $48.95 In the 21st century, education and learning take place in multiple and diverse spaces. Increasingly, these spaces are both physical and virtual in nature. Access to and use of information and communication technologies , and the emergence of knowledge-based economies necessitate an understanding of the plurality of spaces (such as homes, workplaces, international space and cyberspace) within which learning can take place. The spaces of policy making around education are also being transformed, away from traditional centres of policy formation towards incorporating a wider range of actors and sites. These changes coincide with a more general interest in space and spatial theory across the social sciences, where notions of simultaneity and diversity replace more modernist conceptions of linear progress and development through time. This volume proffers a unique perspective on the transformation of education in the 21st century, by bringing together leading researchers in education, sociology and geography to address directly questions of space in relation to education and learning. This collection of essays examines the changing and diverse spaces and concepts of education (occurring simultaneously at different scales and in different parts of the world). It explores where education and learning take place; and how spaces of education vary at different stages (primary and secondary schooling, tertiary and higher education, adult education and workplace learning). The ways in which the meanings attached to education and learning change in different national and regional contexts are also stressed.New Spaces of Education is an important and timely contribution to a growing area of concern within the social sciences and amongst practitioners and policy-makers, reflecting an urgent need to understand the ways in which both education and learning are being reconfigured, not just nationally, but also internationally and transnationally. Digital memorialization: Collective memory, tragedy, and participatory spaces. $49.99 Throughout American history, memorials have played a key role in shaping collective memory and propagating particular beliefs and conceptions of public tragedy. With the rise of an online participatory culture, collective memory can be shaped by a plurality of voices, rather than by those with powerful positions in government and other large organizations, which typically control the process of memorialization. Social media connects communities through technology and has allowed the public to create spaces for mourning and memorialization without the input of official culture. The digital memorials that arise out of media environments contribute to and change the collective memory of American public tragedy. This study centers around three forms of digital memorials: video memorials, mourning on social networking sites, and memorials in virtual worlds. Through analysis of specific digital memorial sites, commentary from digital memorial media producers and a historical analysis of traditional memorial sites and spontaneous shrine sites this thesis examines how these memorials function as activist media not only in relation to issues surrounding public tragedy, but also by shaping collective memory. |

Disability and New Media $105 Disability and New Media examines how digital design is triggering disability when it could be a solution. Video and animation now play a prominent role in the World Wide Web and new types of protocols have been developed to accommodate this increasing complexity. However, as this has happened, the potential for individual users to control how the content is displayed has been diminished. Accessibility choices are often portrayed as merely technical decisions but they are highly political and betray a disturbing trend of ableist assumption that serve to exclude people with disability. It has been argued that the Internet will not be fully accessible until disability is considered a cultural identity in the same way that class, gender and sexuality are. Kent and Ellis build on this notion using more recent Web 2.0 phenomena, social networking sites, virtual worlds and file sharing. Many of the studies on disability and the web have focused on the early web, prior to the development of social networking applications such as Facebook, YouTube and Second Life. This book discusses an array of such applications that have grown within and alongside Web 2.0, and analyzes how they both prevent and embrace the inclusion of people with disability. |

Dreaming of Italy: Las Vegas and the Virtual Grand Tour $16.8 In Dreaming of Italy, Giovanna Franci compares three Las Vegas Italian-themed resorts–Caesars Palace, Bellagio, and The Venetian–to their Italian counterparts: the ancient Forum of the Caesars, the breathtaking Lake Como resort town of Bellagio, and eternal Venice, jewel of the Adriatic. Franci not only examines architectural format and decorative details but considers how the mystique of these Italian sites has been transplanted to the Nevada desert. In the process, she addresses the compelling phenomena of modern mass tourism and postmodern travelers to whom the distinction between the real and the fake is often far less important than the appeal of a destination that allows a visitor to make a virtual Grand Tour within the confines of a single city. Franci’s perceptive commentary offers unique insights into the trends and intentions behind recent development in Las Vegas. She shows how the builders of these three casinos use architectural language to unite the themes and functions of American consumer culture with the romantic mythology of some of the world’s most fantastic oases of pleasure. In this context, Las Vegas emerges as far more than a popular tourist icon. It is rather the first urban spectacle of the postmodern world, a chameleon-like city continuously reinventing itself to offer visitors an unflagging array of experiences, sensations, and hedonistic delights. Federico Zignani’s dazzling photographs bring to life the physical details and idyllic ambiance of the lavish Las Vegas resorts and their Italian inspirations. |
